How I Met My Valentine with Jord Watches

Jerry's watch Walnut and Jet Black Conway (c/o) / My watch Zebrawood and Champagn Frankie (c/o from this post)

I'm so excited about today's post with Jord Watches, because it gives me the perfect excuse to introduce you all to my best friend, and the world's most reluctant Instagram boyfriend. Don't get me wrong, he supports my blogging more than anybody I know, but he avoids the camera like the plague! haha

Jerry and I met my freshman year of college, when a friend of mine was dating a guy who lived on his floor. My friend and I went to Belmont, which is a very small Christian school with not much going on, so like most students there we would make the short trek down the road to Vanderbilt when we were looking for things to do on the weekends. Most of the dorms there apparently were pretty quiet, but somehow their floor had worn out the RA to the point where they would throw loud, floor wide parties pretty much every weekend and she would just let it happen. So every now and then when my friend would go to visit her boyfriend, a group of us would tag along.

I'd seen Jerry at a couple of the parties, but he was talking to another girl at the time so obviously he was off limits. All of my friends started to meet people and pair off, so I started talking to a different guy who turned out to be the most annoying guy I've ever met. Like, so bad. I don't know what I was thinking. The night I realized how annoying this guy was, a huge group of us were going to a karaoke bar downtown. The whole time this guy was being SO obnoxious that I started talking to Jerry instead. The girl he was talking to hadn't been able to make it out that night, so that was the first time we'd actually spoken much more than a few words. I remember talking to him and thinking "Damn it, of course this one's taken!".

After that night, I cut things off with the other guy and didn't go back to Vanderbilt for about a month or so because I didn't have much of a reason to. Until one weekend when my friend texted me at work asking if I wanted to go with her, telling me I'd "been requested." Me being a naive little freshmen didn't think anything of it. I had heard, however, that Jerry and the girl he had been talking to weren't a thing anymore, so I may or may not have gotten a little extra dressed up to impress him. It worked. Or so I thought. We ended up running into each other and hanging out most of the night. The next day we all left for spring break. I went to New Orleans with my friend (the same one), and he was planning on going back home to his family. I had already been planning on coming back mid week for work, and Jerry accidentally missed his flight. Since we were the only two people in Nashville, we spent the entire second half of the week together, and the rest is history. Also, it turns out that he was the one who had asked my friend to bring me, so I guess it wasn't my outfit after all. haha

This year will be our fourth Valentines Day together (that sounds insane to me), and while we currently don't have anything planned I was so excited when Jord Watches reached out to me to collaborate on a Valentines Day post, because I think that their watches make such a cool, unique gift. I received a watch from them a while back, (you can read that post here) and still wear it all the time. It quickly became one of my all time favorite accessories and I get so many compliments on it every time I wear it. Relaxing in Red

Sweatshirt SheIn (c/o) / Jeans Lucky Brand / Rainboots Hunter / Bag Nordstrom

Let's be real, if I had it my way I'd be wearing some combination of a sweatshirt and jeans or leggings all day, every day. I love this sweatshirt because it's really comfy and casual, but the embroidery detail makes it a little dressier than your typical sweatshirt. I think I've worn it at least three times since I got it last week. Whoops. But can you really blame me? Throw in the fact that it's under $25, and it's basically a no brainer, you need this sweatshirt in your life! You definitely want to size up if you're going for a relaxed, oversized fit. I ordered a large, for reference. I also think it would be super cute with a denim skirt and over the knee boots! What is your favorite way to style a sweatshirt?

XOXO,

Olivia

Here's to a Brighter 2017!

Have you ever seen that saying "coffee keeps me going until it's acceptable to drink wine"? As basic as it sounds, nothing has ever described me more accurately. As a full time student, I got into the habit of drinking A LOT of coffee. Like, a lot. And working at a vineyard, I drink probably more than my fair share of red wine. Both of which tend to do a number on your teeth. My teeth were never SUPER yellow, but lets just say, the whitening feature of FaceTune is definitely my most used feature. So when Smile Brilliant reached out to me, I was super excited to give home teeth whitening a try!

To get started, they send you a kit to make a mold of your teeth. Once you make the mold, you send it back to them and they'll send you your whitening trays. I was impressed with how quickly I received my trays after I sent in my mold. Once you get the teeth whitening trays, It's a really simple process that takes about an hour each time.  I usually do it while I'm getting ready in the morning. Basically, you put a thin line of their teeth whitening gel in the tray, put them in, and leave them for about 45 minutes or so. Then, once you're done with the whitening part, you use the desensitizing gel the exact same way for about 15-20 minutes. I love to do this before I go to any event or before I go out to do a blog shoot because your teeth look SO white immediately after you finish. And I've definitely been seeing long term results as I've continued to use it, too!

For reference, here is how my teeth looked before I started:

And here's how they look right now:

While I know that custom fitted trays can be a little bit pricier than some of the alternatives, I've given both a try and have had a much better experience using the trays because I find them to be a lot more comfortable. If you're not sure, you can read more about the benefits of using custom trays here. Also, If you're looking for a more in depth review and explanation, this video is super detailed and will give you all the information you need!

If one of your goals for the new year is to whiten your teeth, you can check out Smile Brilliant's website to order your own at home whitening kit! Don't forget to enter the code "oliviasheastyle" in order to get an extra 5% off! I am also teaming up with Smile Brilliant to give away a tray creation kit as well as three whitening syringes and three desensitizing syringes (trust me, a little goes a LONG way!) and you can enter the giveaway here!

XOXO,
Olivia

Disclosure: I received my whitening kit courtesy of Smile Brilliant in exchange for my honest review, but all opinions given in this post are my own real opinions!

Blush and Bell Sleeves

SheIn Peplum top (c/o) / Urban Outfitters Jeans / Sam Edelman Leopard HeelsSimilar

Blush has been THE color this season, and I am LOVING it! This lace peplum crop top is so cute and perfect for Valentine's Day! I paired it with high waisted black jeans (and a tank top because it's unlined!) and my all time favorite Sam Edelman leopard heels, but I think it would also be really cute paired with a black pencil skirt or over a black bodycon dress! I'm wearing a medium, but I would recommend sizing up if you want it to be a little bit longer on you, especially since the material has no give to it.

Olivia

Growth, Milestones and Dressing Like a #Girlboss

SheIn Dress (c/o) / Converse High Tops / Nordstrom Tote

Nothing will get you motivated quite like accomplishing something that you've been working for forever, especially when that something gets you one step closer to an ultimate, bigger goal. This week, after over a year of trying I was finally accepted into RewardStyle, a platform that allows bloggers to monetize their Instagram and blog posts using affiliate links. What that means for me is that if you guys click on any of the links on my blog and it leads to a sale, I may make a commission off of that sale. It also means that I can make my Instagram super easy for you to shop! What it means for you is that it has never been easier to buy something I post on Instagram. All you have to do is sign up for LIKEtoKNOW.it here! Once you've signed up, anytime you see a blogger post a LIKEtoKNOW.it link on their Instagram, you will be sent an email with shoppable links to everything in the post within five minutes or so of liking their photo. Basically it's great on your closet, hard on your wallet.

Why am I telling you this? Well first off, as a shameless way to tell you to sign up and shop my Instagram posts. Secondly, to explain why I'm sitting here at 1:40 am working on my fifth blog post of the night. I don't exactly believe in "New Years Resolutions," but I do believe in setting goals, and one of my goals that I set for myself this year was to put more time and effort than ever before into my blog. I guess for me this was more of a post-graduation goal than a new years goal. Even though it doesn't sound like that big of a deal, getting accepted to RewardStyle was a huge milestone for me that let me know that I've been doing something right.

What's my next mini goal? I plan on completely re-vamping my blog in the near future in order to make it much cleaner and more user friendly. I am also working hard in order to provide more consistent, engaging content. Yes, there will still be a fair amount of posts that are straight up outfit focused, but one of my goals for the new year is to try to write more posts like this, where I just talk and let you get to know me on a more personal level.

I am also working on utilizing Twitter, Snapchat (oliviawhalen11), Facebook, and Pinterest more than ever before. If you're interested in following along (I'll try to be funny!) click on the links and hit follow! I know that in order to get to where I want to be with my blog, it is going to take a lot of hard work and way more time and effort than I've put into it in the past. Which brings me to this outfit. To me, this is such a simple, straight forward "get sh** done" outfit. The dress (under $20!) is girly and flowy, but amazingly versatile and long enough to run around in, and the shoes are straight forward and comfortable enough to walk miles in. The bag fits absolutely everything you #girlbosses will ever need so it's perfect for class, work, running errands, or even blog shoots. You can't tell, but I may have two pairs of shoes and 3 dresses shoved in there. Yes, it's that big.

I'm really excited about this year and everything I have planned for Olivia Shea Style. If you've been reading since the beginning, thank you so much for following along so far! I'm really excited for the growth that my blog will undergo this year, and I'm hoping you'll grow with me. If this is your first time here, welcome! I'm so excited to have you, and hope to see you next time!

XOXO,
Olivia
